Credit memos generated by RMA module post to the incorrect account for the warehouse locatrion for warehouse 000 if the company does not use divisions or if a division number 00 is used. Instead, credit memos post to the main account. If the credit memo is generated by Sales Order Invoice Data Entry, it is posted correctly.
FOR MAS 90, 200 ERP. Application: Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Version 4.20 Program Issue.
Resolution
TO DUPLICATE THIS ERROR: (for company "XYZ") 1. Set up the company so that divisions are NOT used.
2. Expand "Library Master" and "Main". Double-click on 'Company Maintenance'.
3. Activate the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) module.
4. Expand "Return Merchandise Authorization" and "Setup". Double-click on 'RMA Options'.
5. Click the 'Entry' tab. Under 'Line Options', clear the 'Invoice Number Required on all Returned Items' check box.
6. Set up the General Ledger account for returns and allowances with a location other than '000'.
7. Expand "Sales Order" and "Setup". Double-click 'Sales Order Options'.
8. Select 'Warehouse' from the 'Post Sales to General Ledger by Division' list.
9. Expand "Inventory Management" and "Setup". Double-click on 'Product Line Maintenance'.
10. Select a product line, then click on the 'Accounts' tab.
11. Select the 'Post by Whse' check box and note which General Ledger account is used for sales returns.
12. In "Setup", double-click on 'Warehouse Code Maintenance'.
13. Select warehouse code '000'. In the 'Post to Location' field, enter the location used above for the returns and allowances account.
14. Expand "Return Merchandise Authorization" and "Main". Double-click on 'RMA Entry'.
15. Create an RMA for an item from the product line selected. Enter the following: Return Reason = Change Cust Action = Credit Item Action = Stock Whse = 000
16. Run 'Generate Transactions' and click on 'Yes' at the prompt, "Do you want to generate documents from received RMAs?"
17. in "Sales Order", expand "Main" and double-click on 'Invoice Data Entry'.
18. Select the credit memo generated from the RMA and click the 'Lines' tab. Note that '000' is the selected warehouse and the main account is used.
NOTE: The credit memo generated from the RMA should post to the correct General Ledger account with the correct information.
WORKAROUND: NOTE: Manually select the correct account before updating the credit memo.
1. Expand "Sales Order" and "Main". Double-click on 'Invoice Data Entry'.
2. Select the credit memo generated from the RMA and click on the 'Lines' tab.
3. In the secondary grid, select the correct account.
