How to install Workstation Setup for MAS 90 and MAS 200
Description
For MAS 90, 200 and 200 SQL on Client workstations
Text
This is how to perform an installation of the Workstation Setup on MAS 90, MAS 200 and MAS 200 SQL Server Edition client workstations.
Before proceeding, make sure you have located the server, have the server name and know the server IP address. You will need the UNC path to the ..\MAS90\ folder at the server (e.g., \\Server1\Apps\MAS90\) if you are to run this procedure from CD on MAS 200.
Resolution
FOR SAGE MAS 90 FOLLOW THESE STEPS: 1. Before perfroming the Workstation Setup: a. Map a drive to the drive or folder above the ... \MAS90\ folder (or... Acctng\MAS90). Running Workstation Setup through a UNC path (e.g., through Network Neighborhood) does NOT correctly map the icon target. b. Grant all MAS 90 users Full Control Permissions to the ... \MAS90\ folder and all subfolders. IMPORTANT: The permissions to various ... \MAS90\ subfolders can be modified according to the modules a user needs to access. E.g., a user can be denied access to the ..\MAS90\Prxxx folders (xxx=Company Code)if the user should not have access to Payroll for any or all companies. Do NOT restrict access to the system folders (\Home\, \Launcher\, \System\, \Soa\, or \Wksetup\.) c. Before the installation, STOP the antivirus software!
2. Run Workstation Setup by: a. Open 'Windows Explorer' and select the mapped network drive where MAS 90 is installed. b. Open the ..\MAS90\WKsetup\ folder. c. Double-click the 'Autotun.exe' (..\MAS90\Wksetup\Autorun.exe) or Setup.exe (Wksetup.exe for versions 4.0 and later) executable program. IMPORTANT: Autorun.exe offers more installation options (e.g., Microsoft Data Access Components). Setup.exe runs Workstation Setup only. If the 'exe' extension is not visible, click the 'View' menu and then 'Options'. Using the 'View' tab, note the choice, "Hide MS-DOS file extensions for file types that are registered". If not already clicked, click that option box. All extensions should now be visible.
3. Follow the instructions for installing Workstation Setup. The instructions may vary depending on the version of MAS 90 or 200. Clicking 'Next' is the only action required.
4. Select the appropriate program folder for the MAS 90 shortcut and click 'Next'.
5. Click 'Yes' or 'No' to place a shortcut on the Windows Desktop. IMPORTANT: This option is available on MAS 90 version 3.50 or later only. This prompt appears only when running Workstation Setup and does not appear when installing MAS 90. "Workstation Setup is now complete" appears. If "Setup cannot find MDAC or is not the correct version" appears during the Workstation Setup, run "..\MAS90\Wksetup\Dataacc\MDAC_TYP.EXE" If "Missing Dependency. This product requires Microsoft Distributed COM for Windows 95 (DCOM95)..." appears, install DCOM95.EXE or DCOM98.EXE from ..\MAS90\WKsetup\Dataacc\Dcom\Dcom9x\.
FOR MAS 200 perform the following steps: 1. Take heed of the note: You will need the UNC path to the ..\MAS90\ folder at the server (e.g., \\Server1\Apps\MAS90\) if you are to run this procedure from CD on MAS 200.
2. Browse to the server's ..\MAS90\Wksetup folder
3. Run the Autorun.exe or Setup.exe executable programs (Wksetup.exe on MAS 200, v 4.00 or later).
4. Enter the desired path to the local ..\MAS90\ folder when prompted, or accept the default path. Click 'Next'.
5. Enter the MAS 200 server's computer name or the IP address when prompted to do so. Click 'Next'. IMPORTANT: Performance may improve by using the IP address because the workstation does not have to resolve the server name to its IP address.
6. Enter the ODBC path (UNC Path) to the ..\MAS90\ folder on the server if desired. IMPORTANT: If running Workstation setup from, the server rather than the workstation CD, this path automatically appears. This is required if Crystal reports is used to print forms or reports. The step is also required for other applications such as Custom Office and Business Insights.
7. Select the appropriate program folder for the MAS 200 shortcut and click 'Next'.
8. Click 'Yes' or 'No' to place a shortcut on the user's desktop.
9. Click 'Finish' to complete the installation. IMPORTANT: Changes to the server name, TCP/IP address or ODBC path can be made by rerunning Workstation Setup, or by editing the local ..\MAS90\Launcher\Sota.ini file. All of the information is available under the [Servers] section.
