Subtitle
Moving MAS 90 or MAS 200
Description
How to move MAS 90/200 to a new server, hard drive or directory
Text
Always take a complete backup of the old MAS location before proceeding.
If eBusiness Manager is used, also change the path of the application server in... \Webeng\\Home\Lib\_web\Webhide.ini on the Web Engine server.
Resolution
For MAS 90 4.0 or higher: 1. Copy (DO NOT MOVE) the entire contents of the ..\Mas90\ directory to the new location. Moving the directory itself is not recommended because should there be any interruption in the process, data can be damaged or lost.
2. In the new location, using Windows Explorer, rename the ..\Uninstall Information folder.
3. Reinstall 'System Setup' and 'Library Master' and the same original modules at the server so that a new installation is recorded by InstallShield. Note that if security was enabled during the original installation of MAS 90, it must be enabled at the new server as well. Any third-party enhancements must also be reinstalled.
4. Create new mappings on all workstations.
5. Re-run workstation setup at all workstations. Replace any shortcut icons that point to the original location. If the new server has the same name and patch as the original server, this step does not need to be done.
6. Start MAS 90 from the new location to verify that the program and the company data is still accessible and that no errors occur.
7. To verify that the new location of MAS 90 is running properly, go to the File menu, select Run and enter '*INFO'. Verify the path. After the copy of MAS 90 is complete, the original directory can be deleted.
For MAS 200 4.0 or higher: NOTE: The Application Server Service registry keys may still point to the original location. If you move the MAS 200 v 4.xx to a new location on the same server, then the Application Server Service must first be removed (only after completing a full backup!), then reinstalling the Mas 200.
1. Copy (DO NOT MOVE) the entire contents of the ..\Mas90\ directory to the new location. Moving the directory itself is not recommended because should there be any interruption in the process, data can be damaged or lost.
2. The the new location, delete the ..\MAS90\Uninstall Information directory and the ..\MAS90\home\lib\_appserv directory.
3. Reinstall System Setup and Library Master and the same original modules at the new location so that a new installation will be recorded by InstallShield. This also installs the Application Server components in the new location. Re-enter registration information as requested. If security was enabled during the original installation of MAS90, it must be enabled at the new location with the same administrator password. You will need to re-enter registration keys. They can be obtained by logging into 'Sage Software Online', then by clicking 'Profile Management', 'Products', 'View Sage MAS90/200 Product Key' and 'Validate'.
4. In Application server Configuration, assign an unused port to the server and click Start or set up as a service. If running as a service, DO NOT run the service on the system account, as login must be done by the Local Administrator, Domain User.
5. Re-run workstation setup at all workstations and replace shortcut icons that point to the original MAS 200 location.
6. Start MAS 90 from the new location to verify that the program and the company data is still accessible and that no errors occur.
7. To verify that the new location of MAS 90 is running properly, go to the File menu, select 'Run' and enter '*INFO'. Verify the path. After the copy of MAS 90 is complete, the original directory can be deleted.
For MAS 90 ver 3.71 or earlier: 1. Copy (DO NOT MOVE) the entire contents of the ..\Mas90\ directory to the new location. Moving the directory itself is not recommended because should there be any interruption in the process, data can be damaged or lost.
2. Re-run workstation setup at all workstations. Replace any shortcut icons that point to the original location. If the new server has the same name and patch as the original server, this step does not need to be done.
3. Start MAS 90 from the new location to verify that the program and the company data is accessible and that there are no errors. After the copy of MAS 90 is complete, the original directory can be deleted.
For MAS 200 ver 3.71 or earlier: 1. Copy (DO NOT MOVE) the entire ..\Mas90\ directory to the new location.
2. Reinstall System Setup at the server to install the HOST components.
3. Rerun workstation setup at all workstations and replace any shortcut icons that point to the original location. If the new server has the same name, TCP/IP address, and the path as the original server, rerunning workstation setup is NOT required.
4. Start MAS 90 from the new location to verify that the program and the company data is accessible and no errors occur.
5. After the copy has been verified as successful, the original ..\MAS90\ directory can be deleted.
